India's prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh

India's current prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh leads the Republic of India politically along with his "National Congress party." He came to power on May 22, 2004. As a Sikh, he is religiously among a small minority in a predominately Hindu country.

The 76 year old academic worked formerly as an economist for the "International monetary fund" and the "United Nations." He and his wife, Mrs. Gursharan Kaur, have three successful daughers.
