On Sunday, March 8, we attended the Hindu wedding of Ry. Abishek Bogaram, son of Smt. Vijaya & Sri B. S. Arun Kumar to Sou. Srigirija Manandi, daughter of Smt. Srimathi & Sri Manandi Suresh at the MLR convention center of Bangalore. The bride's father is the Rotary District 3190 incoming district governor for 2010-2011. The groom is pictured above between his father and future father-in-law.
The musicians added the lively, loud music throughout the wedding rituals.
The groom "escaped" outside for a ritual before the bride was carried in and presented behind a cloth screen to her future husband.
The groom lives and works in New Jersey. The bride is a recent college graduate. A good-looking couple; we wish them all the best for many years of happy marriage!
Coconuts and flowers were passed around the stage and blessings were given.
The bride's parents posed for a picture. They were very warm and hospitable. We were honored to be included in this wonderful wedding, one of the many highlights of our Rotary stay in Bangalore!
After the ceremony, a traditional lunch was served on a banana leaf with many different foods and a couple of different kinds of rice. (No utensils required)
I was happy to wear my new Indian outfit purchased specifically for this wedding.
