Today, Tuesday, March 17, our group drove west of Bangalore towards Mangalore about 220 kilometers for a "cultural day" visit. First, we walked around the Belur temple and then the Halebidu temple in a nearby town. Both temples were built in the 12th century.
The Belur temple is a Vishnu god (moderator of all living beings) temple while the Halebidu temple worships the Shiva god (destroyer of evil).

Wow. I will have to show this to my Dad. My grandfather was one of the trustees of the Belur Temple. Thanks for the great pics. You are marvelous ambassador. The state department could use you.
