Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, India's first woman president and the 12th president of India, began her term on July 25, 2007. Prior to her top post, she served as governor of Rajastham from November 8, 2001 to June 21, 2007.
Professionally, she was a practicing lawyer before entering politics. She's married and has a son and a daughter.
